Well, I decided to kick off this blog with a little bit of everything.
First off, life. Yesterday we went to the heath department to get our immunization records updated. Thankfully, I didn’t have to have any shots, but my siblings did. They called Beck first. Mama went with her as she disappeared behind the doors of the waiting room. TeaJay, the youngest, was called next. I decided to be the supportive older sister and go with her. Trouble was, she was dead set on not leaving that room. I tried pulling her along as the nurse watched. I eventually just picked her up and carried her into the examination room. She made it perfectly clear she wasn’t going to cooperate. In an effort to get away, she actually kicked me in the jaw while I was carrying her. After I set her down, the nurse started asking me a few questions concerning the shot record. I told her I didn’t know and that she should ask my mother because I was just TeaJay’s sister. I actually have to tell a few people she’s my sister because they mistake me for her mother. I won’t tell you how disturbing that thought is. Not because of my sister, but because we’ve gotten to a point in this country where the connection is common. Anyway, that’s not where I was planning on going with this post. The nurse went to see my mother and I headed back to the waiting room where I played a game of scrabble with my father. I was doing a pretty good job of keeping up with, and even exceeding, his score. Until TeaJay came back, that is. Then she terrorized me to no end and I lost the game. The rest of my siblings got their shots taken care of. Christen was anxious to see how many shots she would get. She actually wanted to have more than everyone else. She only had to have two though. The twins got the most, five shots each. Bro came in with a whopping three…which he still won’t let us forget.
After that was all cleared up, we went to a music store and got a power adapter and stand for my piano. Those will both come in handy. My awesome baby grand keyboard takes six batteries. When I first played it, we had to scrounge for charged batteries. Of course, the only batteries we had then were from the camera. The sound comes out pretty distorted when it’s running on dying batteries. The last time I played my piano, I was sitting on an inflatable mattress with the piano on a bookshelf just high enough to be too high to play properly. Like I said, the cord and stand will come in handy. XD
We then stopped at a McKay’s store we happened to see while driving home late one night. I love books, if only I had the time to read all the ones I have. We picked up a few of the books outside the store. One of which I wanted to get when I saw it back in Savannah GA. Now I have it for free, so that was cool. After my mother told us to meet back in half an hour, I immediately hit the young adult fantasy section. I admit I was searching solely for books I heard of through the Underground. At www.heedtheprophecies.com, I learned about Curse of the Spider King by Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper. I knew about WTB through a few of his previous books, The Door Within, The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, The Final Storm, Isle of Swords, Isle of Fire, and his blog, www.enterthedoorwithin.blogspot.com. I actually talked to Hopper, www.christopherhopper.com, a little on the Underground when I first joined. In McKay’s, I was searching for The Rise of the Dibor, The Lion Vrie, Athera’s Dawn even the Dragons in our Midst series. I was very doubtful about seeing either Curse of the Spider King or Venom and Song, but, hey, it could happen. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen then. I found the first book in the Alex Rider series instead. I have an unusual affinity for characters with wings so I picked it up and decided to try it out. I got a couple other books and a TFK album. We then went to a Christian book store and I got a couple more books there too.
So that was pretty much yesterday’s adventure. Today we’ll have another one, no doubt.
